Validate & Decode Your NDC Number
21 CFR Part 207 -- NDC Format Requirements
Enter your NDC number to validate its format and decode its segments:
An NDC number consists of three segments: Labeler Code (assigned by FDA), Product Code (assigned by labeler), and Package Code. The total is always 10 digits in one of three configurations: 4-4-2, 5-3-2, or 5-4-1.
NDC Format Guide
4 -- 4 -- 2
4-digit labeler 4-digit product 2-digit package
5 -- 3 -- 2
5-digit labeler 3-digit product 2-digit package
5 -- 4 -- 1
5-digit labeler 4-digit product 1-digit package
Note: FDA uses a 10-digit format. When an NDC appears on a label it may be printed with hyphens (e.g. 12345-678-90). When used in electronic submissions, leading zeros are added to create an 11-digit format (e.g. 12345-0678-90). Both represent the same drug product.
Need an NDC Labeler Code?
If you don't have a labeler code yet, LMG can apply for your NDC Labeler Code assignment from FDA. This is required before you can assign NDC numbers to your drug products.
