1. Does domestic food facility require FDA registration?

YES, The Bio-terrorism Act requires US FDA registration for domestic food facilities, that manufacture, process, pack, or hold food for human or animal consumption in the U.S. Owner, operator, or agent in charge of domestic food facility is required to register the facility with the US FDA. Domestic facilities require FDA registration whether or not food from the facility enters interstate commerce.

2. Does foreign food facility require US FDA registration?

YES, Foreign food facilities that manufacture/process, pack, or hold food require US FDA registration unless food from that facility undergoes further processing (including packaging) by another foreign food facility before the food is exported to the U.S. However, if the subsequent foreign food facility performs only a minimal activity, such as putting on a label, both food facilities require US FDA registration.

YES, Dietary supplement establishment also require U.S. FDA registration.

No, FDA registration number does not denote FDA approval, U.S. FDA will assign a unique registration number to each registered facility.

Yes, All foreign facilities should have an agent at the time of registration. The FDA Agent act as a communication link between U.S FDA and the Facility.

No, U.S. FDA is not inspecting food facilities before assigning registration number, but FDA may inspect the facility after registration.

9. Does food facility submit product labels for US FDA registration?

No, Food product labels are not required for U.S. FDA registration.

No, U.S FDA does not review or approve food labels.
